Some of our members are running into trouble with Aetna during the health care audit. If any of you or your members have any problems with this audit have them contact Dennis Simmerman at the National Headquarters in Cleveland. Dennis is our guy that handles our insurance needs and questions. He can be reached at 216-241-2630, ext. 255. Give him a call and he can probably help out.

To All Engineers working the Phoenix

In order to get a handle on the DOL trains and crews that do not get into either Winslow or Mobest in 12 hours or less, I am requesting that you do the following when it is apparent to you that you will NOT be able
to get to the terminal before the Hours of Service expires.
1. Document when you first notified the dispatcher, or trainmaster that you were not going to make it.
This needs to include time and milepost location. Also we will need name of person that you talked to.
Please make a note of each time and who you talk to each time and again the milepost location.
2. Please fill out a special claim using code 73. If you are on the pool claim 300 miles as that is a basic
day on the pool. If in dogcatch service claim 130 miles basic day. Put in the facts from item 1 as much
as possible in the time claim.
3. Please write up the information and leave in the Engineers drawer at Mobest, either addressed to myself
or to your local chairman. Please leave me a copy as well though.
I am not going to promise that this will fix the problems out there, but if we can keep records of the facts
we will have a much better chance to identify the people who are not getting the job done.
Please do this when ever you are on duty and not into the terminal in 12 hours or less.
